ABOUT
TEACHING WITH INTEGRITY
Teaching with integrity, passion, and excellence since 2002. Pilates Space is Ottawa’s premier Fletcher Pilates® movement studio and Teacher Training Educational Centre. Since 2002 we have taken pride in offering a positive, professional and caring environment where we get the work done but also have fun along the way. We teach Fletcher Pilates® - the Ron Fletcher lineage of the Pilates method. Regardless of age, body type or fitness level, our team of qualified teachers is dedicated to help you attain your best level of physical wellness. True to the versatility of Pilates, our students range from teenagers in sports to professional athletes and dancers, and people from all walks of life ages 13 to 85.
Jacqueline Ethier, Pilates Space Co-Owner, had the privilege of studying directly with first-generation Master Teacher Ron Fletcher for nearly a decade before Ron passed in December 2011 at the age of 90. Jacqueline’s studies with Ron had a profound effect on her teaching and on her growing success in business. Ron chose Jacqueline, among a select few, to be a disseminator of his work. Jacqueline is proud to pass on her knowledge to the next generation of teachers. She keeps Ron’s work alive in Canada with the support of her husband and studio Co-Owner Charlie Ayoub, their dedicated staff of teachers as well as their Pilates students, many who have been practicing with them since Pilates Space opened.

The Story of Pilates Space - Written by Corey Oliver
THE INTERNATIONAL PILATES REVOLUTION
The international Pilates revolution owes much of its momentum to Ron Fletcher. A 20-year student and protégé of Joseph and Clara Pilates, Ron Fletcher’s organic, movement-based approach to the Pilates method has inspired generations of Pilates teachers and practitioners. While staying true to Pilates’ origins, Fletcher developed his own innovative Fletcher Towelwork®, Fletcher Floorwork®, Fletcher Barrework™ and Percussive Breathing™ techniques creating an even more comprehensive movement experience. Through Pilates legacy and lineage, these Fletcher signature techniques compliment Pilates’s existing equipment work. As Fletcher Pilates continues to grow in popularity, so too grows the demand around the globe for the high standards of Fletcher Pilates Teachers, who carry on the desire to rise out of mediocracy, and to move to one’s fullest potential with both grace and strength.
RON FLETCHER AUTOBIOGRAPHY (1921–2011)
ORIGINS OF THE PILATES METHOD
Joseph Pilates referred to the method he first developed in the 1920’s as “Contrology,” a term which implied articulate, balanced and fluid physical control, leading to more energy and ease of movement throughout life. Now simply known as Pilates, Joe’s method is a complete physical conditioning program, incorporating strength, flexibility, coordination, balance and endurance training. The dual emphasis on movement awareness and efficient body mechanics leads to improved posture and alignment, core strength and overall body awareness. The first-generation teachers learned “Contrology” from the perspective of fundamentals and guiding movement principles. Joe invented the equipment and the regimen, his wife Clara, worked alongside him and was known as the true teacher of his work.
