Osteopathy

Do you sense a physical barrier that, no matter what you do, you just can’t get passed? Osteopathy can address that. And not just any osteopathy. A Jean-Pierre Barral trained therapist can help you resolve limitations that may have been with you all your life.

Jean-Pierre Barral is a French Osteopath, who was named: “One of the top 6 health innovators to watch in the new millennium” by Times Magazine. He has revolutionized how osteopathy is practiced and taught in colleges. What he has discovered is the importance of the internal organs, nerves, and blood vessels in treating musculoskeletal pain and restrictions. What he teaches is that the body will always favor vital organs over any other structure in the body, as they are necessary to life. As the organs do not have voluntary movement, their only way of protecting themselves is to block joints, and seize muscles. He is looking where no one else is.

Osteopathy is considered an alternative medical practice, offering drug free and surgery free solutions to many health care scenarios where drugs or surgery would typically be used. It is pain-free. There are no side-effects. Results are permanent, and in many cases treatment is a lot quicker. It is the perfect complement to Pilates or any other physical activity that you practice and enjoy.

The practice of Osteopathy began in the United States in 1874. The first osteopath was Andrew Taylor Still. The principles of Osteopathy are that the body is an integrated unit. The body has self-regulatory mechanisms, and is capable of repair and remodeling itself. Form (anatomy) and function (physiology) are reciprocally interrelated.

Therapy is hands on. Non-invasive. It is practiced in such a way as to interfere as little as possible with the body, to make the biggest change, system-wide.
